An Early Morning Montrose Wedding.

Brittany’s family home was abuzz with activity when I arrived early Saturday morning. Bridesmaids in matching robes frantically brushed each others hair and applied heavy coats of eyeshadow. Siblings zipped around the house collecting cufflinks, corsages and other wedding accessories. Cell phones buzzed and beeped with messages about last-minute details . All the while Brittany smiled calmly. She was more than confident about the man she was about to marry. Caleb and Brittany met through school sports when they were […]

Outdoor wedding on the Grand Mesa

Wyatt and Shelbi wanted an outdoor wedding that was all about them. They planned a low-key affair at Powderhorn Mountain Resort on Colorado’s Grand Mesa and put all the emphasis on having a beautiful, classy ceremony. It was very important to both of them that the event was sober until they left for the evening. Every detail was meticulously planned out and came together perfectly. The ceremony, held outside on a pleasant August afternoon, was perfect. Wyatt, Shelbi and I […]

Kristal and Jonathan’s Grand Junction Garden Wedding

I first met Kristal after an epic powder day in Telluride. I was looking for photography work and I clomped into the magazine offices where she was the lead designer. Telluride being a ski town, I saw no problem showing up to a business meeting in my ski boots. Fortunately, the editor and publisher of the magazine didn’t have a problem with that either and we had a very productive meeting that let to a long-lasting professional relationship. Over the […]

2017 Weddings in Review

For my last “Wedding Photography Year in Review,” I chose to focus on the lesser seen moments during weddings. This year I want to expand on that to include some of the peripheral scenes and sub-plots that surround weddings. Weddings offer the perfect opportunities to observe new friends meeting for the first time, old friends reconnecting for the first time in a long time, or non-friends hanging out together. Your wedding may be the only time in history where all […]

Elegant Montrose Wedding

Ryan and Sierra had a very elegant weeding in Montrose and it was full of a lot of firsts for me as a wedding photographer. While I had worked with Cobble Creek Golf Club a lot in the past for commercial and editorial work, this was my first wedding. They did a great job shuttling guests and the wedding party from the clubhouse to the ceremony location overlooking the San Juan Mountains. The reception was held at The Lark and […]

Surprise! A Church Wedding

I am always happy to help out friends and fellow photographers and that is exactly what I did when my ski school buddy Jim Cox called me the day before Nicole and Keaton’s wedding. Jim was concerned about the lighting inside the First United Methodist Church in Grand Junction and he had been asked not to use a flash during the ceremony. Now I had never been to this church but I figured that it couldn’t be any darker that […]

Telluride Destination Wedding

Jillian and Khalid held their alpine destination wedding at The Peaks Resort in Telluride, Colo., and it was HOT! I met Jillian in her room at The Peaks and spent some time getting to know and photographing her, her bridal party and soon-to-be mother in law. She was a little nervous but the rosé seemed to help a little. Khalid was getting ready in a room down the hall and it was remarkable how confident and excited he was! They […]

Destination Ouray

After the first phone call with Andy, I was excited to photograph his and Desiree’s wedding in Ouray, Colorado. I could tell that these two would be an exceptionally fun couple to spend a day with. Following their small family ceremony at The Beaumont Hotel we had some homemade cake and set out to take some wedding photos around the town of Ouray. We saw Desiree’s grandfather’s former home, the historic Ouray County Courthouse, the famed Ouray Ice Park, and […]

Christmas Wedding in Grand Junction

Gretta and Tate’s Christmas-time wedding at The Avalon Theater in Grand Junction, Colorado was festive, colorful and fun! The couple and the ten people in their wedding party were in great spirits when I met them at their downtown hotel. They had decided last minute to do a short reveal at the Avalon prior to the indoor ceremony which was a great way for the bride and groom to calm their nerves. The ceremony was held on the main stage […]

2016 Weddings in Review

In compiling 2016’s “Year in Review” I wanted to take a somewhat different tack and showcase some photos that are more off-beat. I look at A LOT of wedding images and I grow tired of looking at the expected, formulaic and overly-processed images that seem to decorate the entire wedding industry. So rather than just showing off those perfect moments I’m going to mix in some out-takes, happy accidents, and just fun moments that are often seen at weddings but […]
